Here we have a well-constructed ready to run 5” gauge N15 king Arthur “742 Camelot” in SR Livery.
This well sorted Modelworks/Winson kit which was originally constructed by an aerospace and model engineer, so many of the typical floors have been ironed out to create a very strong, reliable and fun engine finished to a high standard with phoenix precision paints.
Silver soldered copper boiler with superheaters and a current working pressure of 80psi. The Boiler has previously been hydraulic tested at 200psi and comes with the original modelworks boiler certificate and also previous club certificates. The engine includes twin injectors with a hand pump mounted beneath the tender as well as an axel pump concealed between the frames on the engine, so water supply shouldn’t ever be an issue!
The engine features cast iron cylinders which have seen alterations to improve flow of steam, this included a new swept exhaust and opening up of steam ports and valve liners. New pistons and valves have been manufactured and fitted with O rings and PTFE to ensure a good seal which creates an engine with a very healthy 4 cylinder beat! The Valves are actuated by Walschaert's gear with screw reverser in cab. Improvements also made to the Mechanical lubricator to ensure sufficient amount of steam oil is supplied to the cylinders during operation.
Eight-wheel double bogie tender with outside plate frames over the wheels and operational screw hand brake. An advantage to the larger twin bogie design ensures the driver has plenty of room if running at Ground level and that there is also a plenty of space for coal and water. Foot pegs and seat are included.
